Although Alan Ginsburg is commonly considered the best of the Beat-era Poets, my favorite has always been Lawrence Ferlinghetti – Coney Island of the Mind captured the feel of the 50’s – and era prior to my birth that is imbued with a sense of my pre-corporeal Self.

Ferlinghetti’s writing is deft, clean, concise, and vivid: his poems are black-and-white snapshots that invoke nostalgia for the decade prior to my birth.
